A new approach to Catholic media is desperately needed, not because existing Catholic television networks and producers aren't doing a good job, but because they aren't doing enough. We simply cannot afford to continue to think of Catholic television as primarily an educational resource for already-committed Catholics, or as a companion in prayer for those same people. Instead, we need to take immediate action to bring authentically Catholic programming to nominal Catholics, non-Catholic Christians, and non-believers. We need to create viewing experiences as visually compelling and broadly appealing as that provided by secular media. And we need to do so quickly, without hesitation and on a large scale, because evangelization cannot wait. Millions of souls across the country need to be exposed to the true light of the Church. Television is a medium, one of a very few, that can reach that many people immediately, and where they are.

            We aim to augment existing Catholic media with new programs aimed at the three groups not currently served by most Catholic television: Catholics (practicing or non-practicing) who are uninterested in current media offerings but still open to specifically Catholic programs; non-Catholic Christians, who are often wary of Catholicism, but who can be introduced to the truth of the Church in a non-threatening way by Christian programming without the too-common anti-Catholic bias; and non-Christians, for whom clean, entertaining programs will be produced that gently introduce the Gospel and the Church. Oasis Productions is a 501 (C)3 non-profit organization endorsed by the diocese of Steubenville, OH.
